We feel the best way to determine if we can help you is to perform a thorough consultation and exam. We only accept patients that we truly think we can help. Otherwise, you are referred to the proper type of health care provider. 2. "Do you crack the spine?" There are many different types of manipulation. We can manipulate or mobilize the spine with no "cracking". 3. "What is the cracking sound produced by manipulation?" The spinal bones do not touch, so the noise is not bones being cracked. The noise is simply air being released from the joint when it is moved. This happens all the time when we move our joints. This movement is actually good for the joints. Our joints need motion to introduce blood flow and prevent spinal decay (arthritis). 4. "Do I have to get treated forever?" I often respond to this by asking, "do you have to go to the dentist forever?" The answer is "no". Spinal health is similar to dental health. In order to prevent the damaging effects of spinal decay (arthritis), we get periodic dental check-ups. Our spines also get "decay" if we do not periodically ensure normal spinal posture and biomechanics. We feel this is best achieved by regular "spinal check-ups". It varies patient to patient, but most patients need 1-2 treatments per month once their condition is stabilized. It depends on how much spinal decay has already attacked the spinal joints. |
